Meet Dr. Jimmy Vellis

Dr. Jimmy Vellis was born in Maryland, raised in Virginia, and now resides in the Tampa–St. Petersburg area with his two sons. He attended the University of Virginia on a full NROTC scholarship, earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C.

After graduating, Dr. Vellis relocated to Tampa, FL, where he practiced general dentistry for eight years. His passion for dental surgery inspired him to pursue advanced training, leading to his acceptance into a three-year postgraduate residency program in Periodontics and Dental Implants at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in Lexington, KY. During his residency, he served as chief resident and graduated first in his class. With extensive surgical training, Dr. Vellis has developed a strong focus on implant dentistry and full-arch reconstructions. He has successfully placed thousands of dental implants and is driven by a desire to restore smiles and improve his patients’ quality of life through compassionate, patient-centered care.

A Commitment to Excellence and Service

Dr. Vellis is certified in intravenous conscious sedation and trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), ensuring patient safety and comfort during surgical procedures.

His dedication to dentistry goes beyond his clinical practice. Dr. Vellis has volunteered on pro bono mission trips to Ghana and Bolivia, providing essential dental care to underserved communities. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching youth baseball, and volunteering through his church.
